Getting back into Gear

Hello and Welcome back to another productive semester. I hope lots of you took the time off from classes relaxing somewhere far, far away but also reflecting on your priorities.

Coming back to reality is hard but if you did it after winter break you can do it now. Since the snow days there’s been a lot of catching up to do so here’s some tips on shaking off Spring Break Fever.

Make MyNOVA your homepage and check Blackboard everyday to stay mentally on top of things. Who knows, maybe your professor decided to add another assignment.

Open your planner and make sure you have all the materials ready for the first week back.

No more late nights! Unless you have evening classes.

Prepare your materials the night before class so that you’re not scrambling to find that missing paper the hour of class.

Check in with your study group/ classmates. Someone else always knows if there’s another assignment due.

Leave your textbooks out where you can see them. “Out of Sight, Out of Mind”. It’s a small mental reminder.

Out with the old in with the new. If you’re just starting another class make sure you’ve got your materials all set. If you’re ending a first 8 week class, take your books out and put them away to not confuse yourself.

Make lists during your spare time for each day. All academic and non academic responsibilities.

Hope these small tips help you during the final stretch of the semester!
