Hello NOVA community! My name is Cheryl Lane and I’m a pre-nursing student at ELI. I love taking classes online because I can study whenever I want. I have two kids, a husband, a dog and a cat. They take up a lot of my daytime, so my studying often happens at 2 a.m. Occasionally, I take classes on campus, but I prefer to keep my options open. When I’m not studying, you might find me singing with the Washington Revels Jubilee Voices, judging one-act competitions for the Virginia High School League, or performing in a puppet musical at the Capital Fringe Festival. (Yes, I really did that. Twice.) I’m also the cookie mom for my daughter’s brownie troop — I love Samoas. Talking about Samoa, I am half Samoan. I have never wrestled or played football, so some stereotypes are not true. But, I do play the ukulele, so some stereotypes hold up I guess. I like to think that I live my life the way I would want my children to live — work hard, play fair, be nice, and don’t take yourself too seriously.
